Register InterestCalisthenics is the art of using your own body as resistance. It builds functional strength, body control, and mobility that transfers to every part of your life. Our classes will follow a progressive structure, meaning every movement has an easier version and a harder version. If you cannot do a pull-up, you start with band-assisted pull-ups or negatives. If you can already do 20, you work towards weighted pull-ups or muscle-ups. Everyone trains at their own level.
Unlike standard gym training, calisthenics is skill-based. You are not just lifting weight. You are learning to move your body in ways that require coordination, balance, and control. Sessions will include dedicated skill work for movements like handstands, levers, and planche progressions alongside the fundamental pushing, pulling, and core strength that underpins everything. It is training that feels like practice.
Every class is coached by a qualified instructor who understands progressive overload, movement mechanics, and how to get the most out of bodyweight training. You will not just be following a video or guessing your way through exercises. Your coach watches your form, adjusts your progression, and makes sure every session moves you closer to your goals safely.
The pull-up is the foundation of upper body calisthenics. From your first assisted rep to strict pull-ups, weighted pull-ups, and eventually the muscle-up, your coach takes you through the progressions step by step. Most people can achieve their first strict pull-up within 8 to 12 weeks of consistent training. The muscle-up takes longer, but it is achievable with the right coaching.
Pushing strength is just as important as pulling strength. Classes cover the full progression from basic push-ups through diamond push-ups, weighted dips, ring dips, and advanced variations like planche push-ups. Your coach ensures your pressing strength develops in balance with your pulling strength to keep your shoulders healthy and functional.
Handstands build incredible shoulder strength, body awareness, and core stability. You do not need to be able to hold a freestanding handstand on day one. We start with wall-supported holds, build your time and control, and gradually work towards kicking up and balancing independently. It is one of the most rewarding skills to unlock in calisthenics.
Calisthenics classes are coming soon. We are currently setting up the programming and scheduling. Register your interest by contacting us and you will be the first to know when classes go live.
No. Our calisthenics classes will be fully progressive, meaning every movement has regressions and progressions. If you cannot do a pull-up yet, we will start you with assisted variations and build your strength until you can. The classes are designed for all levels, from complete beginners to advanced athletes.
Classes will cover the fundamental bodyweight movements: pull-ups, dips, push-up variations, rows, and core work. As you progress, you will work towards more advanced skills like muscle-ups, handstands, levers, and planche progressions. Every session is coached to ensure proper form and safe progression.
Yes. Calisthenics classes will complement your existing training at R&B Fitness. Your coach can adjust your programme to account for the additional volume from calisthenics classes, ensuring everything works together rather than against each other.
